Following on from Tracy Bezance's silver medal in the 400m, as covered in a recent news story, she also won another silver medal in the 200m to cap off a great week in Torun, Poland at theTracy-photofinish European Masters Athletics Championships Indoor. Not only did Tracy manage to secure a silver medal but she did it in a personal best time of 28.38 seconds. Tracy was beaten to the line by German athlete Katja Berend who took the gold medal, with Belgium runner Saskia DeJonghe and the Dane Gunhild Michelsen battling it out for third place with just 0.09 between them behind her. This can be seen in the photo-finish picture. (Tracy is highlighted in red).

The Masters competitions are for senior athletes who are grouped and compete according to age. In the mens' competition at the European Championships indoors in Torun the ages ranged from over 35 to an incredible over 95 years old. In this senior group (M95) the events included 60m & 200m sprints, high jump, pole vault, long and triple jump. The womens' competition age groups range from over 35 to a mere over 85 years old but they have a full range of events like the mens M95 but with the addition of throwing events; shot, discus and javelin. It would be impolite to mention which age group Tracy runs in but it is somewhere between the W45 and W55 groups.

Tracy is now back working for Welbro doing her day job but did manage to find some time to take in the sights of Torun before she had to come home. She was very impressed with the facilities in Poland, especially the track. This has made her even more excited by the prospect of competing in the World Masters Championships in Beijing, China this summer. All of the Welbro Team are keeping their fingers crossed for Tracy to be selected for Beijing and hope that she can do one better and bring back the gold for Team GB and Team Welbro.

The Welbro Team would like to congratulate their colleague Tracy Bezance on winning a silver medal at the European Masters Athletics Championships Indoor (EMACI) in Torun, Poland this week. Tracy was silver-medal Tracy Bezancerepresenting Team GB in the 400m and finished in second place just behind the Dutch Champion Simone Geel, with her GB Team mate Alison Collins taking the bronze medal.

Tracy qualified for the finals with the fastest time in the heats, 0.82 seconds ahead of Simone Geel, but both ladies upped their game for the finals producing their best times of the week. Tracy's 63.83 seconds was a magnificent achievement and her personal best in this class but sadly no quite enough to get the top spot. Tracy is competing all week and will also be running the 200m.

She dedicated her medal to Gerry her trainer for many years who passed away just before Christmas. Tracy had been training hard throughout the winter for this event and was determined to finish in under 64 seconds, a goal both she and Gerry had set. It was a shame he could not be there to see it realised.

The European Masters Athletics Championships Indoor is being held in the town of Torun this year, which is in Poland. It is known as the home town of Nicolaus Copernicus and is an important site on any tour of Poland. In 1997 the Old Town was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site due to its Gothic tenements and medieval churches, so we hope that Tracy has some time set aside for sightseeing.

Tracy has achieved the qualifying time for the World Championships. She is hoping to be selected to run for Team GB at the World Masters Championships this summer, which will take place in the "Bird's Nest" Olympic Stadium in Beijing, China. She is very excited at the prospect, as are the rest of the Welbro Team, so we are looking forward to bringing you news of her progress towards another World Championship Medal.

Welbro are pleased to announce that following a recent inspection by the HSE, our standard license to strip all forms of asbestos has been renewed for a further 3 years. This is the second time in a asbestos-licenserow that our asbestos stripping license has been renewed for a 3 year period, at a time when shorter ones are being issued more frequently by the HSE. Our entry in the HSE database can be seen by clicking here.

Whilst asbestos removal forms only part of the services we provide as a specialist refurbishment contractor, it is very closely associated with many areas of our work; particularly roofing and cladding. We often encounter a variety of asbestos products during our building refurbishment projects. Therefore, it is essential that we understand this product and if necessary can act promptly to put forward a proposal for the management or removal of asbestos materials, without having to engage other contractors. It is also very important that our operatives understand how to deal with this material and so in order to maintain our license, extensive staff training is undertaken on a regular basis.

In addition to licensed asbestos removal projects, in their own right or as part of a complete refurbishment scheme, Welbro can undertake asbestos surveys to establish the presence of asbestos materials in older buildings and can prepare reports.

On hearing that his team had been successful in their renewal presentation Ian Welch, Director for Asbestos Works, congratulated his team for their hard work and diligence and said he looked forward to 3 more years of licensed stripping.

Welbro Established January 2000

Welbro Project Management Ltd was incorporated on 8th January 2000, once the board were satisfied that the world had not ended as a result of the "Millennium Bug". Our Company was formed as a site management and design provider for the industrial roofing and cladding industry in the UK. During the last fifteen years our company has evolved into a specialist building envelope refurbishment contractor working both in the UK and the Falklands.

During this time we have worked with a wide and diverse collection of companies and organisations including Film Studios, the Ministry of Defence, Schools & Colleges, Communications Companies, Manufacturers and even a Formula 1 Racing Team. We have shipped a roof to the Ascension Islands, we have fitted cladding in Cornwall, we have worked in the cold weather, we have worked in the hot weather and we have even won an award for being Considerate. Who knows what the next fifteen years will bring but if it is as good as the last we are all in for a treat.

Christmas 2014 will be a memorable one for the UK Welbro Management Team who spent it in the Falkland Islands this year. Their work schedule left them in the southern hemisphere for the festive season. Being mid summer their Christmas day began early with blue skies with a little cloud, although the temperature reminded them they were only 700 miles from the Antatric coast.

With plenty of provisions they enjoyed a good Christmas lunch and a long walk in the afternoon before being treated to a magnificant sunset just before 10:00pm.

They are looking forward to a productive start to 2015 before returning for a UK summer.

Industrial Buildings

Whether your Industrial building is large or small, occupied or vacated Welbro would like to work with you to find the right solution for your refurbishment project.

Since 2000 we have refurbished a wide variety of premises for leading commercial landlords and directly for the end user. We have extensive experience refurbishing everything from a vacant warehouse unit to a fully operational manufacturing facility.

Early involvement in the planning of a project is key, especially when the industrial building is occupied. We would like to share our knowledge and experience with you to make the refurbishment of your industrial building a great success, with minimal disruption to your normal operations.

Call us and we will run through your options and provide budget costs. There is no charge for this service unless specilaist access equipment is required.

Commercial Buildings

Planning the refurbishment of commercial buildings often differs from industrial buildings, as they tend to involve more people. This presents a number challenges when they require refurbishment.

Our management team are aware of the extra care required when working in this environment, having work on film studios like Pinewood & Shepperton, various shopping centres and other commercial properties since 2000.

It is important to plan safety precautions to cause the least disruption but these measures may be more costly then the basic standard. Reduced disruption and expedient completion of the works often negates these additional costs.

Why not let Welbro help you plan and execute your refurbishment project?

Military Buildings

Most of the Welbro Directors have worked on Military buildings prior to the formation of Welbro, so their extensive knowledge and experience has been shared throughout the team.

Working on airfields, around sophisticated military aircraft and equipment requires the highest levels of safety and management.

This collective knowledge extents to World War II Aircraft Hangars, which is an area where Welbro have particular expertise regarding their design and structure.

We have refurbished Military buildings on both RAF sites & Army barracks throughout the UK and we have undertaken a significant amount of work in the Falklands Islands.

So whether you have a Hangar Door that needs servicing or would like to reclad your T2 Hangar, call Welbro.
